Sauti Sol Take Over New York; See Who They Met At The Event [Photos]

As Nairobisincity Uleydie Yusuf exclusively reported to you a few days ago, Kenyan top Band Sauti Sol are bound to share the same stage with Grammy award winning Beyonce, rock band Coldplay and British Singer Ed Sheeran.

This will happen in New York at the Global Citizen Festival, which is a precursor to the signing of the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals by 193 world leaders. They serve as successors to the Millenium Development Goals that have served to eradicate poverty around the world the past decade.

Here are photos from their New York City take over; from touring the CNN offices to rehearsing with Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

Obama’s Wife To Appear In A Movie…Will You Watch It?

While many guys are commenting on Kanye West’s ambitions of being a president, Michelle Obama is set to appear in an animated movie. Her animated self will appear in Disney Junior’s “Doc McStuffins” this coming month. According to The Hill, the episode, which will air on October 5th`will coincide with the Child Health Day.

In the role, she invites the main character Doc and children making a change in the society for an awarding ceremony at the White House.

This is an interesting way of putting a vital message across; that the world needs more people who are keen on leaving a positive mark in the society when they leave the planet.

What Sauti Sol Are About To Do With Beyonce Will Give Jay-Z Sleepless Nights

2015 is definitely Sauti Sol’s year. As we speak, Sauti Sol are jetting down to New York where they will share the stage with BeyoncĂ©, Ed Sheeran and Coldplay among others. Yes. Another magnificent achievement for Sauti Sol to add to their ever growing list of accomplishments.

Sauti Sol announced on their Instagram early this morning that they are headed to New York for the Global Citizen Festival 2015 during which world leaders will launch the global goals.

Remember Sauti Sol recorded the Global Goals anthem with other African superstars earlier on? While they are there, maybe Sauti Sol should find John Legend and make that collabo a reality. Meanwhile, all the best to the band.

One of them is that you should never ever take photographs of a prostitute after you’re done with the business, just pay and walk away.

There’s a gentleman who thought it would be a great idea to take photographs of his woman for the night after she was done with her, but regrettably, the prostitute realized and almost called her colleagues to whoop him.

Meet The Sexiest Fashion Blogger From Coastal Kenya

Juliet Wachira is a Civil Engineer by profession and is a fast-rising blogger from Coast. She is undoubtedly the best fashion blogger from coastal Kenya. Her blog Love It Style It is getting more traction as days go by. It’s gaining readership really fast.
What makes her stand out is her undying passion to excel in this field and the fact that she’s not let her past – being from a less fortunate background – determine her future.

The blogger has been nominated for the MIMI Fashion and Style Blogging contest. MIMI is an online shop which is owned by Julie Gichuru, arguably the most established female TV personality in Kenya.

She had a chat with me about her love for blogging and immediate future plans and this is what she had to say:

YD: Tell us about yourself

JW: I’m Juliet Wachira 24 year old, a civil engineer by profession and a fashion blogger by passion. Currently staying in Mombasa where I work in a construction company.

YD: When did you start style/fashion blogging?

JW: I started blogging in May this year. I debuted my blog as a creative outlet to express my love for fashion, extensive collection of clothes and share with fellow ladies how to put outfits and looks together. I have family and friends who always ask me where I get my outfits or seek advice on what would look good on them.
YD: How would you describe your sense of style?

JW: My style can be described as trendy, comfortable and classic. I love keeping up with the latest fashion trends and wearing vibrant colors, and as much as I hate to admit it I love dressing up my curves. I’m the ultimate fashionista!

YD: What can’t you do without when stepping out?

JW: Flats! Inasmuch as I love heels I always carry my flats so that I can slit into them when my heels become exhausting.

YD: How is your normal work day?

JW: My normal workday is quite busy. I wake up, dress up and head to the office before 8. I check my mail, and my FB account for any new feedback, then I get onto my schedule as usual. During lunch hour you will probably catch me going through some fashion blogs or magazines.

YD: Who do you look up to for style inspiration?

JW: Kim Kardashian and Lisa Ray McCoy…they make anything look good.

YD: What kind of music do you listen to?JW: I enjoy a variety of music genres including local music, RnB, soft rock and country music.

YD: Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
JW: Five years from now, my greatest desire is to have my own clothing line up and running. I hope to have met a few designers that I admire and look up to, the likes of Wambui Mukenyi. My vision as a fashion blogger and designer is to build a proudly African clothing line (Juliet Wachira Collection’s) that can be applauded and celebrated.

YD: Which 80’s fashion trend would you like to see in the streets once again?

JW: The moccasins and fedoras; you can rock these two with a blazer and chino pants and you are good to go.

YD: Any fashion quote you live up to?

JW: Forget the rules…if you Love it, Style it.

YD: Which are some of your biggest achievements to date?

JW: Some of my greatest achievements to date are starting my own blog and creating my own designs which I will be showcasing very soon.

YD: In the current digital world, how are you finding it interracting with your audience especially on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook?

JW: I appreciate the influence that social media has had on my achievements as fashion blogger and fashion designer. I have been able to interact easily with my audience and I respect and honor every single one of my followers. Every single “like” I get means the world.

YD: Your favorite make up brand and accessories?

JW: Sleek

YD: Your favorite fashion trend-setter of all time?

JW: Kim Kardashian…we kinda have the same body shape and she makes me feel secure about my curves.

YD: Kim Kardashian or Cara Delevingne?

JW: Hands down Kim Kardashian, her style is out of this world.

YD: Your dream travel location?

JW: Maldives. I could go there a million times. I love the resorts there… especially the Lily Beach Resort and Spa and Coco Budu Hithi Resort. This place is paradise.

YD: What advice do you have for young upcoming lifestyle bloggers?

JW: Research as much as possible before you gets started on what’s the best platform for your blog, what’s the key message you want to get across and who your readers are. The marketing aspect of blogging is as equally as important as the blog content if you’re looking to have a successful blog.
